Card for Dinner Treat

My oldest son, Michael and his family were here for the wedding. They actually arrived a week beforehand which was a real treat. Michael had recently returned from Afghanistan so I wanted to treat him and Andrea (DDL) to dinner one evening. Actually it was totally selfish on my part - I got to spend time with my grandchildren while they were having dinner. We had a fabulous time playing with Stampin' Up's new "Build A Bear" line. Definitely kid tested and we had a blast!!!! We decorated the full length mirror in their hotel room! I am sure the housekeepers wondered what was going on. LOL

Wedding Aftermath

I have been remiss in posting to my blog ... there are so many hours in a day and I seem to fill them up easily. Summer was a hectic time - work, family visiting, my son's wedding, summer activities and finally my dog rescue. There are so many who need saving.

As promised though, here are pics of the wedding cake, cupcakes and box I designed for the cupcakes. The cake was a hit so the boxes were never needed!

Here's the cake. Rudy and Jen wanted a non-traditional cake without the bride and groom on top. Staying with the theme of the wedding, I put two seashells and a bouquet that matched Jen's bridal one. The cupcakes also matched with the cake, each having a rose and a chocolate seashell.
And finally the cupcake box. I bought the template from Lauren Meader and designed the box from there. It's hard to see but if you looked into the box, you would see a "beach scene" with sand and a seashell. The sand was replicated by sponging Stampin' Up's Close to Cocoa classic ink.

I am in the midst of designing my son and soon-to-be daughter-in-law's wedding invitation. It's been a roller coaster ride; so many ideas have gone into the circular file. I finally came up with a design I really love.

Next came the decision for the base color. I originally went with Bashful Blue. I thought it was a great color for the Very Vanilla and Blush Blossom shells. I had a conversation last night with another SU demo (Hi Susan!) who gently nudged me out of my "box" to consider Baja Breeze (current In Color) or Sky Blue (retired 2007 In Color).

We all need a nudge now and then. I am so glad she did! I made up two more invites using these colors. Oh my! What a difference! Here's the three of them - Sky Blue, Bashful Blue and Baja Breeze.
Which one do you like best? I am interested to hear what everyone thinks. :-) Wait till you see the inside!This obviously depicts a seashore but lift the "wave" and there's a pocket for the reply card and directions! There are so many possibilities with this card. I can see it being used for a gift card holder as well.
